Do you drink a protein shake right after training?  How about right before bed?  While this is a common practice for many athletes and may help you recover faster and make greater gains from your training, it is important to keep in mind that not all protein powders are the same and choosing the right one for you is important.  To help you navigate the myriad of different choices, Aicacia Young of Climb Healthy and author of our Nutrition Guide wrote an article discussing the important factors you should keep in mind when choosing a protein powder.

First, Aicacia talks about how protein powders are not necessarily for everyone:

“Before we get started, let me remind you that protein powders are not for everyone. This article is intended for those who choose to consume protein powders, but you can still meet all of your health and fitness goals with real, unprocessed food.” – Aicacia Young

For those climbers who do choose to supplement their diet with a protein power, Aicacia discusses the four features you should be considering when choosing which protein powder to use:

  1. Digestibility
  2. Release time
  3. Grams of protein and carbohydrates
  4. Additional ingredients

Aicacia covers all four of these elements in detail in the full article which you can reach by clicking through bellow.  If you are looking to supplement your diet with a protein shake this is a must read before settling on a which product you will be using.

Thank you for great information, my issue is after a good training / climbing day of good eat thought out the day, but time I get home I am starving as a spring bear. I can eat a meal an hour later I am starving again. I can’t quench it fast enough.
