No matter what style of climbing you prefer, core strength is extremely important.  Having a strong core helps us keep our feet on the wall when climbing on overhangs and lets us use our feet more effectively not matter what angle you are climbing on.

As a result, all of our training programs feature a lot of core workouts.  Unfortunately, while working on core strength is extremely important, it’s not always the most fun.  Yeah, it’s satisfying once you are done, but let’s face it you didn’t get into climbing because you truly loved leg raises.  Personally, I find one of the best ways to avoid dreading the core training parts of my workouts is to mix it up.  Not only does it keep things from feeling repetitive, but it also ensures you are targeting your entire core (that’s right your core isn’t just your abs!).

To help you keep things fresh, here’s a core strength circuit workout taken from the TrainingBeta Bouldering Strength and Power Program.  Give the workout a shot and if you like it be sure to check out the full program for yourself!
