A climbing workout of the day is a climbing specific conditioning workout that should take less than 20 minutes and is not so taxing that you can’t do it at the end of a workout. If you’re not into structuring a climbing workout for the day then you can use these workouts as something to do at the gym if you’re bored. These workouts were devised by myself.” -Steve Maisch

There are 3 climbing workouts of the day included in this article from Steve Maisch’s blog, stevemaischtraining.com.

For example, Workout #1 is 666’s:

As many rounds as possible (AMRAP) in 12 minutes
6 climbing moves on similar grips (H.I.T Strips from Nicros work well for this).
6 pull ups on finger grip of choice (middle 2 or 1/2 crimp or pinch or whatever)
6 Peter Pans

Workout #2 is 30s-30s involving fingercurls and workout #3 is 20s-20s involving hangs.

Each workout has an instructional video to go along with it to demonstrate the exercises. Try them out to add something new to your climbing training day!

*In case you haven’t heard of Steve Maisch…..he is a local SLC strong man and renowned training guru. If you’ve ever run into Steve at the cliff, you know how humble and unassuming he is. Once he pulls onto the wall though, his immense power and strength speak for themselves. He makes very hard moves look easy.
