Do you get jittery when your getting ready for a redpoint attempt?  We’ve all been there.  Unfortunately, this kind of nervousness while you’re preparing to pull onto your project could not pop up at a worse time and can even sabotage your attempt.

To help you get over these redpoint jitters and put forth your best effort, here’s an article from Rock and Ice by Neil Gresham in which he outlines some of the underlying reasons we get nervous before trying our projects and then gives you some strategies to combat them.

“Redpointing is one of the most stressful head games in climbing, imbuing in each of us the demoralizing and spirit-crushing notion that we may never send our project. Many climbers are shocked the first time they take the deep dive and attempt to send sport routes that are hard for them.” – Neil Gresham

The strategies Neil discusses include not setting a time limit for success, making sure you spend enough time working the route before going for the actual send, and mental tactics for taking the pressure out of each individual go.
